Animal breeding and genetics isn’t just a family business for Dale and Holly Hummel at Cabery, Illinois; it is a lifestyle that they are teaching their four children. Both Dale and Holly grew up showing livestock and were members of members of FFA Livestock Judging teams that excelled at the national level. They also judged at the collegiate level. Dale was an animal science professor for more than 15 years and coached livestock judging teams before retiring early to focus on the family business. The Hummel family has operated Select Exotics, a Savannah cat breeding program, for more than 20 years and began breeding Boer goats eight years ago.
