"I love being at the livestock shows because I get the opportunity to be around like minded peers that share the same passion as I do."

Hi, I am Courtney Thurman from Bryan, Texas. Currently, I am sophomore at Rudder High school, where I am a Varsity Cheerleader, extremely involved in FFA and am in the top 5% of my class. I am 1st Vice President of my 4-H club. Through my involvement in 4-H and FFA, I have participated on the chapter conducting team, public relations team, livestock judging teams, Job Interview LDE and currently serve as a Junior Board Member for the Brazos County Youth Livestock Show.

My passion to AgVocate for the livestock industry has led me down a path to qualify and compete at the state level with both my 4-H and FFA Record books and leadership development events. I believe in the life skills these premier youth development organizations teach the youth across the country and I am thankful for all the opportunities they have given me.

With the help of my family, I raise and show market goats, market hogs, market lambs, breeding does and breeding gilts. Each year, I travel to ALL the Texas major livestock shows with at least 1 specie and livestock judge at all the contests. I love being at the livestock shows because I get the opportunity to be around like minded peers that share the same passion as I do. Livestock shows are also where I have meet some of my best friends. The marathon we call major show season in Texas is second to none!

This year I will be exhibiting market goats at the Fort Worth Stock Show. Last weekend I made my first trip of the season to Fort Worth to participate in the goat judging contest.
