Elizabeth Heintz - On & Off the Circuit

If you follow the steer show world, you probably already know that Elizabeth Heintz had an AMAZING year at the Ohio State Fair this year - Champion Overall Steer and Fourth Overall Steer! But we wanted to get to know her beyond the backdrop. Here is a sneak peek at the Sept/Oct issue of The Show Circuit most popular column: On & Off the Circuit.

Elizabeth Heintz of Hardin County Ohio, is 18 and shows steers and pigs - mostly Maine, Chi and crossbreeds.

She must have been wearing and using her lucky items at the recent Ohio State Fair. "I’ve been wearing the same pair of black boots for the past 6 years. The nails are coming out of the bottom but I refused to get new ones. Also, I use a specific gray showstick even though it’s bent and has black spots on it from paint shows."

Activities outside of Barn: "I was on the varsity tennis team, I volunteer at a local community shelter serving supper to the less fortunate, I was in National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, FFA, 4-H President, Key Club."

Future plans: "I will be attending Siena Heights University in the fall majoring in Social Work with a minor in Geriatrics/Spanish to become a Geriatric Social Worker."

Who she would like to thank: "I would like to thank my family, especially for giving me the opportunity to show and pushing me to become a better showman. Also, the Winegardner/Klingaman families for making me the showman I am today and teaching me how to get my steers look the way they are. Without them I would not have been able to win the State Fair let alone be in the Top 5 at jackpot shows. F

"Finally Kevin, Dale, Lee, and all of the people that helped fit and show my steers over the past 9 years couldn’t have done any of it without all of you."
